Glioblastoma, a deadly brain cancer, has been found to extend beyond the brain itself, infiltrating the skull and manipulating the immune system within the skull’s marrow. The cancer creates pathways that enable inflammatory cells to enter the brain, which unfortunately promotes tumor growth. Surprisingly, even medications intended to strengthen bones can exacerbate the condition. These findings emphasize the importance of developing treatments that address both the brain and bone aspects of the disease. This shifts the understanding of glioblastoma from being solely a brain disease to a systemic one.
